I guess the good news is that it passed by less of a margin than the previous incarnation... When I saw this on the books, I couldn't help but think of my own situation. I'm a white woman married to a black man - a very few years ago, our marriage would not have been recognized in some states. Their reasons were all based on Biblical "truth" - at least, as they interpreted it. Sigh. I had more of a "choice" of who I fell in love with than a gay person has of whether they're gay. Perhaps my (teenage) son's generation will have better luck than we have.
Gayle, you understand better than most of us can. Funny, I've read the Bible numerous times and never caught that Biblical "truth".
If people are so dead set on defining and restricting marriage, why aren't they starting with parents who have molested their children? Ban marriage for THEM.
Or "husbands" who beat and rape their wives? Ban marriage for THEM.
Then maybe we'd be moving toward marriage based on LOVE.

One step forward, three back...

Now I have to get back to writing.
Yeah. I agree. I was glad to see Obama win, but the passing of Prop 8? What the hell happened there?
Now, I too am going back to writing.
Well, I wouldn't say THREE steps back. Sandra, but it certainly shines a spotlight on what needs to change.
There are lawsuit coming.

RJ, it's shameful. Tons of money spent by bigots who unfortunately have it.
Why is it that THEY are the ones who always seem to have the money?
